Redskunk Jipzee Swing Band This group of young California central coast musicians puts together a surprisingly mature sound that draws from Django Reinhardt,' 30s European jazz and American roots traditions. Molly Reeves (National Resophonic guitar, vocals), Sam Boorman (Django guitar), Ken Davis (drums & percussion), Pamela Scheffler (Grappelli violin), Justin Au (swing trumpet), Mitch Grossman (stand-up low-down bass) deliver fun, hot jazz with a twist. This ensemble has recently performed at the Live Back Bay Jazz Fesitval, Oak Music Festival, the Morro Bay Harbor Festival, and the Big Sur Jade Festival. They recently opened for Portland's own "3 leg Torso". The RedSkunk Jipzee Swing Band received the highest overall scores at the Sacramento youth band festival this year. These talented players are fresh, spontaneous, spunky and exceedingly entertaining. We will be reviewing their new album, "Premonitions" on the show. With two CD's already available, this band is rapidly cutting a wide path to success!

Often, I wish my other clients could hear your accomplishments for inspiration and encouragement. I also know that each and every one of you have knowledge and experience that would be of great value to my other clients. That’s why I decided to create a monthly conference call for ONLY my existing clients, free of charge! The format of the call will be a few moments of coaching from me, then sharing of accomplishments from everyone, and then any one of you can share a problem or issue you are having with your business or personal life and tap into the resources of our group. | About "It's The Stories You Tell..." |  It began in May of 2008. The "Crazy Ole Man" (Alan) left home between 5:30 and 6:00 every morning with his notebook in hand and his heart wide open. He recently had made the decision to leave his job and start a business of his own . . . a business more in alignment with his nature . . . a business that would use his many talents. The notebook was for recording ideas.
Aimlessly wandering, he eventually made his way down to the harbor of the Central Coast town where he lives. Observing the nature of pelicans, sea lions, and other early bird coffee seeking locals, he began to write. The words came quickly and effortlessly. "Where is this coming from?," he wondered. Returning home, amazed, he shared his daily message with his wife Marylou. She was equally amazed. They were beginning to believe anything was possible.
It wasn't long before Marylou, an artist, began incorporating Alan's "words" into her bright, mixed media paintings. The response was positive. They decided to combine their gifts and create a book that would tell stories of encouragement and empowerment, rather than stories of fear. Their intention is to help people change the stories they tell. By doing this the world will change . . . one story at a time!

| Marylou Falstreau |  For over 15 years, Marylou Falstreau has been creating mixed-media paintings that celebrate the colors of life. She starts each piece with a simple drawing on paper or canvas and then begins blocking in color, pattern, and texture. "I use all kinds of materials including good quality acrylic paints, papers, gesso, molding paste, beads . . . and anything else that will get the job done," she says.
"I very rarely ask someone how to use materials or read 'how-to' books. I like to explore and figure things out on my own."
Marylou believes that figuring things out on one's own is not always easy but it's how an artist develops her unique style. She admits that when she was just starting out in this field, she was unsure of who she was as an artist. "I was impressed with people who could draw realistically and in perspective, and I tried hard to become that type of painter," she says.
"After time, I learned what I could do well and eliminated everything else. My goal is that my paintings are free of struggle, that my weaknesses don't show up painfully in my work, and that my style evolves and becomes uniquely my own."
"My paintings can also be spiritual, and people who share my beliefs recognize that and are drawn to them."
Marylou takes long walks on the beach with her husband an best friend, Alan, to contemplate ideas and find new reasons to choose joy. |
| | | | | Alan Falstreau |  Try Alan has worn many "hats" over his interesting and varied career. As a young man he worked in professional theater. Since then he has owned a small business, worked with non-profit organizations as executive director, was a commercial hot air balloon pilot, held key operations positions with retail food service corporations, and was a consultant in special education to federal and state agencies.
Alan has most recently added author to his list! He and artist and wife, Marylou Falstreau, created "It's The Stories You Tell That Color Your Life". This colorful, quirky inspirational book asks the reader to become more aware of the stories they tell. Stories of victimhood, fear, worry or . . . alternately gratitude, joy and forgiveness effect how we all live our lives. It is possible to choose stories that make us happy!
How Alan became The Crazy Ole Man.
Several years ago Alan was managing a food service team that was made up of mostly college students. He was their "Senior" advisor so to speak. Although he was older he was young at heart and loved working with these kids and they loved him.
He believed that he could create a work environment that was challenging and inspired personal growth, but could also be fun and joyful as well. Sometimes he would dance to the piped in music or make jokes with the customers, but he also expected the best from his employees and they always gave him their best. Soon they began calling him "The Crazy Ole Man" and before long his customers were using this fond nickname as well. His employees replaced his old nametag and gave him a new one with - you guessed it - "The Crazy Ole Man" printed on it. He has since moved on but the name has stuck. That is how he thinks of himself to this day.
In addition to being The Crazy Ole Man, Alan is the owner of Infusion Leadership Solutions, working as a business consultant and coach specializing in the development of independent coffee houses. He works closely with owners, managers and vendors alike to create a vibrant atmosphere that promotes creativity and growth during these competitive times.
